PROJECTART
Material: - PROJECTART uses "Pelletec" material on all our products - a totally eco-friendly material that feels like "nappa" leather yet passes the "OEKO TEXSTANDARD 100" - the ultimate benchmark for both safety and the environment. The material is backed for 4 way stretch and strength and there is no chemically induced PVC in the fabric.
Printing - PROJECTART owns the latest printing technology to emblazon the material with rich colorful images. The machine is able to print at 1200 x 1200 dpi (very high pixilation) which creates incredibly vivid imagery. As the machine can print up to 100” wide, it can be used to print the transfers that cover buses / cars with advertisements. The printer has the ability to print up to "24 pass" - this means that the printing arm will go back and forth over the material 24 times - this allows us to print the most fantastic colors!!!!
Ink technology - this new printing technology uses LATEX inks that are on the cutting edge of ink technology. Not only is LATEX ink much more environmentally friendly than regular UV or chemical inks, it is waterproof, sun-resistant and most importantly flexible. This means that the printed products will not crack and that the material is much more resistant to scratching than leather.
The art of Ken Bailey - PROJECTART licenses these whimsical, amusing and colorful images of Dogs and Cats from this well known Seattle based artist. We scan each image and then digitally arrange the art within the pattern of the sandal, handbag or accessory. This is very time consuming, particularly with sandals as each size will require a different size print. We also need to “manipulate” the images according to the size and shape of the item. Most printed materials that are used on similar products are repeat patterns that do not require hours of graphic design to create the final material.
